I just had a haircut and they used thinning shears on me. Will my hair grow back normally?

I had long, thick, slightly wavy beautiful hair. A friend suggested thinning shears, so I asked the hairdresser to try it, but I don’t like the result at all. My hair is 3 inches shorter and thin from the back. I’m really afraid that it will not grow back how it used to before ( and ever since the haircut I’ve had hair falling out even after shampooing it (since yesterday). I’m really scared! any advice is appreciated!

You have nothing to worry about.

Thinning shears work by cutting some hairs and not others. The hair "falling out" is actually those strands that were cut but not brushed out by your hairdresser.

Unless you have a pre-existing condition, your hair should grow back normally. It will take a while, though, depending on how long it normally takes your hair to grow.

For example, I wear my hair in a military-style "high and tight", and often shave the sides and back of my head. While the top hair grows at a relatively slow rate, those areas I shave grow back (to a point where it’s visible) in a matter of hours and reach the same length as the top of my head in about 2-3 weeks.

do thinning shears cut off hair?

i have thick hair and i want to thin it out but i don’t want to cut it off…
so i was wondering if thinning shears cut off my hair or not?

thinning shears will cut hair off (not length, but hair), the shears have slots so that only certain hair is cut, it will give you layers, however, i don’t recommend cutting it yourself, go to a salon, even a cheap salon like super cuts or great clips and they will do it for a good price too, all you have to do is tell them you want it thinned out or layered and that you don’t want any length taken off, also a razor cut will do the same thing, the stylist will know what the best tools are to use for your hair type.

Im a 26 year old male with very thick hair. Can i use thinning shears as often as i want with out balding?

If you have the balding gene, thinning will occur whether you thin with shears or not.
You can use the shears so much that it feels too thin but it will grow back. Just do thinning a little at a time until it feels good.
90% of clients that come into my salon want their hair to feel thicker. They envy you.

Thinning hair with Thinning shears?

I have quite thick hair, and I wanted to know how to use thinning shears, since my mom will be doing it at home, I need some instructions.
Like, how close to the scalp, does my hair have to be wet, how many snips, etc…

Your hair HAS to be wet. Thinning it dry is damaging.
